Okay, so I told you I was buying Tiger Woods 09, and I have. I was really excited about the feature that allows you to upload digital photos of yourself to your own golfer in the game. After a lot of trial and error, here’s how you do it:

Go to easportsworld.com and register. You have to use the email that you use for your Xbox LIVE account though or it won’t work. This is how it recognizes your gamertag and knows to attach your photos to your Xbox. Once you’ve registered, click the Tiger Woods 09 portion of the banner at the top of the page. You should see a couple different places now for ‘photo game face’. Click on one of these banners. This will take you to your ‘my sports world’ page. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and the photo game face widget should be there. If not, click add widgets from the top right of the page and make the photo game face widget part of your my sports world page.

Click ‘upload a new photo face’ from the widget. This will take you through the details of how to upload good photos. Make sure you have really high resolution pictures of yourself with no shadows.

Once you’ve completed this, how do you get your photos to your Xbox? Simple, boot up your Xbox and go in to edit the appearance of your golfer. The first option is ‘photo game face’. In creating your own photo game face it will ask where you want to get your photo from: Xbox Vision Camera or the internet. Click the latter and then wait.

Inset is how mine turned out. I’m not totally happy with this, especially considering this was my second try. Maybe I’ll try it with Vision sometime, but for now, this will do.

  1. Man it looks pretty good to me, but I can’t look at it closer because when I click on it it goes to your Flickr and says I don’t have permission to view it because it’s private!!

  2. Joshua

Think so? I just fixed the private setting.

  3. Andy

I did all that on the EA Games website and it seemed to work fine. I then booted up the XBOX and went to load gameface. My pic showed up in one of the blocks below, but when I tried to upload it, I kept getting a failure notice. I am connected into XBOX Live and my pic did show up in the game, but it wouldn’t upload to my player. Any ideas?

  4. Just try it again. I heard a lot of negative feedback on the EA Sports World website about failure to upload pictures. I even had a problem myself with that. My only advice is to try uploading a completely different set of pictures. Also, make sure you face is aligned as suggested. It may not recognize your face as being a face. I know in Rainbow Six: Vegas, people tried uploading their ass as their face and it worked. As funny as that is, I bet EA has limitations.

  5. Brian

I tried several times to upload but keep getting the message that I am not connected to the internet or the EA Servers. I am connected to XBOX Live and I do continue to get in game GamerNet Challenges but when I select the “Download from the Internet” option that is the error I get. I have followed the instructions. Any ideas?? BTW I have used the address I signed up with on XBOX Live and I am able to upload to the eaworkd server.

  6. This is turning out to be a common problem. One of my good gaming buddies told me he is having the same error last night. Maybe email EA? I didn’t have any problems with mine.

  7. Ethan

I got everything uploaded and was doing the markers on my face but both the front and side views were one dot short. i tried to generate face but it said markers weren’t alligned right. im guessing the one dot is the problem but dont know what to do. i was wondering if you heard of this

  8. I posted this as a bit of helper. By no means do I know how to fix problems with the photo game face. Sorry I couldn’t be more help, Ethan.

  9. Kris

I can’t get my eaGames account to link to my xbox account. I went through the procedure they detail on their website where you type in the gamertag, but it keeps saying it can’t find it, even though I’m on xbox live at the same time. I’m guessing this is why it says I didnt upload a picture when I did.

  10. Ryan

    Dude looks just like you!!!

  11. Jay

Kris I am having the same issue. I plugged in my gamer tag and it says it can’t find it. Wow I really think EA can’t keep up with the demand and/or technology.

  12. Jake

I tried signing up on http://www.easportsworld.com by using my Xbox live email address, but when I submit the application it says, “The EA account (email address) you entered is already in use.” I have no clue what to do about it. Any suggestions?

  13. JDSTAR

Ok folks, first of all, I followed the instructions at the top of this page (THANKS!!!), then when I choose to get my picture from the internt I was originally getting the same errors as many other people that I couldn’t connect or something….but then I realized it says you must read and accept the online conidtions (in the middle of this uploading process). MAKE SURE YOU DON’T HIT “A” to CANCEL while it’s bringing in the terms and conditions. After I allowed a few moments for that to pop up, I clicked “I Agree” and then it finally worked. This just MIGHT be the problem some of you are having (which I was very angrily having intially, and turns out it was my fault for hitting “A” to quickly)….. After a bit of time placing the markers it appears mine will work (it’s “generating” my animated inage as I type….50% done after a five minutes or so…hope it works :-) Good Luck

  14. Jaywise

    Currently does not support mac.

  15. NoX

Thats a great likeness if you ask me. It really looks like EA put you in the game!

Im doing it for PS3 right now, its generating my face, i hope it comes out as accurately.

Im using a side photo to for extra accuracy…i hope

lol right now it says ‘applying healthy glow’ yeh i could sure do with some of that!

  16. DAVO1 POINT5

Nothing happens when i click on add new photo face i dont understand why. Any solutions?

  17. terry

Does anyone know how to get round the problem of it not being compatible with macs

  18. Josh, thanks for that mate. I was starting to lose my temper with the whole process. Getting the pictures uploaded to the EA site is not very intuitive so this post was a great help.

    Thanks again!

  19. Dan

Hey terry, just get Parallels or something similar, boot camp or something. It sucks but you’ve gotta be able to do .exe and stuff like this occasionally. Good luck man, it’s generating me right now, although I am testing to see what it will do without doing a side photo!
