The New Barbershop

It was roughly a year ago that I totally re-hauled a Blogsome template and started fresh with my site. It was a lot of work no doubt, but by the end the site worked in one or two browsers and was a disaster in all others. Not to mention the black was getting a little played. I started with a pre-loaded theme and began to play around. Check out the before and after.

After much deliberation, actually none at all, I’ve switched to a WordPress theme. I really like how clean it looks, yet how customizable it is at the same time. I’ve made a number of changes to the style sheet and have arrived at the finished product you see now. If you’re wondering where my colour inspiration came from, I thought of it all on my own. One problem that did come up was trying to import my old posts from Blogsome to make the new design look lived in. That proved difficult, but through trial and error I seemed to get it working. The only problem is the comments didn’t migrate over, but I’m not too worried about that. Once I get a few posts under my belt I’ll wipe out the old ones anyway.

In the last year we’ve had a lot of blogging casualties, but I’m trying to stay strong. I still haven’t got a facebook account, which is what I attribute a lot of my continued blogging energy to. Despite all the anti-blogging, my readership continues to be consistent. What’s more, is I still enjoy doing it.

So what brought on the change besides my growing old with the design? Two major things have happened in my life recently: I bought a condo, and I got a new job. I figured what better time than now to tear down and rebuild?

  1. Looks great. I liked your old site too, but you’re right…the black was getting a little played.

  2. Sarah

It looks great…I really like the green!

  3. Nice, I’ve always digged on the Unsleepable theme. Sweet that you were able to import all of your old posts.

    Here’s to keeping it going.

He once used the tagline Pretty Much Amazing. It wasn't far from the truth. Check back from time to time for design goodness.

Great smug perspectives. A real sour view on life in general. Definitely good for a laugh.

I know a lot of dudes that know a lot about technical stuff. This guy takes the cake.

Stands for krazy, malice assumptions and narration's. Okay, maybe not. If you're liberal, you just made your second friend.

The theme is Rants, Raves & Recommendations. All three, all good, all the time.

    An oldie, but a goodie.

    Kevin Smith

One of my favourite writer/directors. He carries a blog and updates it now and then. Look out for movie sneak peaks.

This is a great daily visit. Lots of interesting stuff to keep you busy in the down time. Another design guru.
